All Aboard!

These vintage like anchor charms are the perfect gift for anyone this season! The anchor represents so much and is also the state symbol for my home state.. Rhode Island.  Choose from a variety of colors and make a statement! You can find them in my ETSY shop or in my actual SHOP. So come visit, or browse and get the perfect stocking stuffer gift yet!

What the Anchor represents:

“The anchor is seen as a symbol of a well-grounded hope. As the anchor was often a seaman’s last resort in stormy weather, it was frequently connected with hope. Being made of a solid body, the anchor was also identified with firmness, solidity, tranquility and faithfulness. The anchor remains firm and steady amidst the stormy waters, symbolizing the stable part of a human being, that quality which enables us to keep a clear mind amid the confusion of sensation, emotion and the general “storms” of life. Therefore the anchor keeps us steady in the storms of temptation, affliction, and persecution.”

Shop consignment!

Ladies never underestimate the power of a consignment store! I remember when I was younger and my mom would shop for me in consignment stores I was embarrassed, someones used clothes..ew!! I knew they were nice labels and because my mother shopped at these kinds of stores, we were able to go on fabulous vacations and do all the fun things a family wanted to do. Well now later in life I have fallen in love with it all over again!! Now the outfit I am wearing today is all consignment, well besides the basics 🙂 I am rocking a brand new pair of j.crew matchstick jeans from Pennywise in mystic, connecticut for $15 one of my new favorites! Now my sweater I got yesterday from one more time in Wakefield for total of $12! So for $27 I got a outfit that would have cost $80 or more! You may have to scan the racks and maybe they are from last season but if you buy classic pieces it won’t matter. Some of my favorite shops are all around RI
Flip boutique in West Warwick
Never Enough East Greenwich
Pennywise in Mystic CT
Second Time Around Providence
The French Bulldog Boutique in East Greenwich and the best part about The French Bulldog & Flip Boutique is that you can find Luniacstyle!

An Important Cause: Stomp Out Domestic Violence

Many of you may not know that I was a social worker for 7 years working with teens in various non-profit, grant funded, educational and preventative programs. Helping and empowering people  in our community has always been a priority. Once I decided that I wanted to commit to LuniacStyle full time, I wanted to make it a personal mission of mine to support local and national causes where I could. Donating, participating and being able to incorporate my creative nature with my socially conscience side has really humbled and inspired me. Thankfully I have been able to work with people who feel the same way about combining community causes with creativity and fashion.

On October 16th, LuniacStyle is proud to be a part of Stomp Out Domestic Violence – A Fashion Show.

“Come watch local models strut down the runway wearing designs from 5 local designers and fashion from 5 local boutiques. There will be an auction, purple carpet photos and free dessert buffet. There will be general seating, VIP seating and Platinum VIP seating. All proceeds go to The Women’s Center of RI.

See designs from Kara Wickman, Kelly Eident, Maria Mercado, Unspoken Word Designs by Makala Fields, LuniacStyle and Toni Lyn Spaziano. Check out the latest styles from Sonya’s , Gossip, Luli, Rock and Rose and Frills of East Greenwich. Also, enjoy a fashion showcase by Chip Douglas with clothing from Crack Artist and Area 4zero1 and a performance by Creature. VIP ticket holders will have the chance to meet designers and browse some of the boutique fashion in the VIP room.
Visit stompoutdomesticviolence.org to purchase your tickets online”

This post is written to encourage you to take a moment, check out the website, and participate in some way. Come see incredible fashion, donate (if you cannot make it to the event), or even share this event with your facebook friends.  Any amount of love for this cause is apprieciated and welcomed.

Thank you,

Jaclyn

Hello Michael!

Dear Michael Kors,

I have been a huge fan of yours since my first Vogue magazine. My first designer bag was one made by you, I hunted the TJ.Maxx racks waiting for the price to go down so my small income (of Friday night babysitting money) could buy it.

It was a teal small chain bag, it was timeless. I carried it everywhere, it barely fit a thing but I loved it. Every time I wasn’t using it I had it in its dust bag and perfectly placed in my closet. Now I have countless bags and they are no longer perfectly placed, they all have some sort of pen, receipt or coin in them. I know I should take care of them but I don’t feel the same way about them as I did. That Michael Kors bag will forever be my favorite. So now I can sit and watch him on Project Runway, take his advice, understand what looks good and what doesn’t and laugh at his little one liners 🙂

Yesterday he presented his Spring 2012 line and he did not disappoint. His use of neutrals, draping, and belts is what we come to love about his line. My favorite look was this knit one shoulder dress that I could see with a skinny brown belt and some chunky wedges (once we get through this winter). 🙂

Can’t forget about the accessories! You can pair it with these feathers and you are all set!

Wacky..Crazy..Betsy.

She is nothing short of crazy, she loves anything glitter, and who can forget her over the top hair (she sounds like she could be my new best friend)! But Betsy Johnson knows whats up. Her style of over the top glam makes anyone look and feel like a million bucks and is sure to get everyones attention.

The looks for her Spring 2012 show were just what the doctor ordered, bubble skirts, bustier and leopard print bras under sheer tops made me fall in love with her all over again. I know people may look at her collection and think I could not wear this but wait, think again. All you need to do it just take one piece and pair it will something a little more muted and… voila! You have a little bit of Betsy! Now all you need is a killer headband to throw in your head and you are good to go! My favorite look from the evening were these high waisted shorts with a tie front sheer top. You can separate the two items and have two completely different  outfits.

Pair the shorts with a solid sheer black tank and you have a perfect spring time look.  I like this one from AshleyjanexOxO!

Then  with  high waisted flared jean and the sheer tie front top you can go from day to night in that outfit! Check out these from Omavintage ( they are even cropped so you can pair them with your favorite wedges!)

make sure you pair both outfits with a cupcake headband from LuniacStyle and you are good to go!

If you can learn one thing from Besty..

DON’T BE AFRAID TO HAVE FUN WITH FASHION!

Ba-Nanas!

Yesterday afternoon Rachel Zoe , showcased her Spring 2012 collection. I want all of it!  Sticking to what she knows what to do best, Zoe showed her talent for bringing the 70’s to every fashion lover out there. All of her long dresses, pant suits and a little bit of animal print here and there, was right back to the street of New York  circa 1977 Annie Hall with an edgier twist . The collection had something for everyone and every occasion. My favorite look from the showcase was this red billowy dress, I could pictures wearing this with my hair up in a high bun and earrings.

now these earrings from LuniacStyle tie it all together!

The pairing of red with the amber and green of these earrings will make you head turner!

Don’t forget to check out LuniacStyle.com!
